Achieved distantly via modules and/or through a teacher training, YogaFaith’s 200 hour is a foundational program open to the beginner or advanced practitioner, to learn from the ground up, all things yoga from a Christian perspective. We strive to redeem what was first found in the Bible, in the beginning, for God’s glory. Most yoga techniques were practiced throughout the Bible over 2,000 years ago!

Using required textbooks: Yoga Anatomy, Yoga Sequencing, YogaFaith Handbook and The Bible students will be introduced to the history, philosophy, theories, and benefits of yoga. The 8 Limbs and the Yoga Sutras are studied and the foundation of yoga and Eastern religions are also explored. A deeper look into the classical branches of the 8 limbs and how they correlate to the Ten commandments is discussed how these practices, no matter what one’s belief system is, can be woven into our daily lifestyle. Module One includes study of the roots of yoga, Bhatki Yoga, how yoga relates to faith and religion, and what it means to be devoted and present. Trainees will also learn the concept of Seva and what it means to live a devoted life and how to serve others, even in yoga practice. Lifestyle and Ethics are our focus during this time together. Discussion explores looking at Jesus as an ultimate teacher, healer, and instructor. How he related to all people with empathy, understanding, and kindness. Students discuss the Greatest Commandments and how to live a harmonious life with themselves and others. Looking to Jesus as an example of One who served and gave everything He had to others.

Students will demonstrate by practice and verbalization how to instruct Seated and Restorative Asanas, know the benefits, cautions, how to deepen, and able to demonstrate proper use of tools and props. Teaching methods, directives, delivery, finding one’s own voice, and cuing techniques are discussed, practiced and demonstrated throughout this segment of training. With the use of Yoga Sequencing special populations are explored more and how to speak to specific ailments, limitations, and diseases. These are temporary as well as permanent circumstances that students will demonstrate their ability to speak to various populations without excluding anyone. Students will experience what it means to have limitation: example: Pregnancy, broken leg, no arm, blind, etc. will be experienced by students. Jesus as an example healed many, taught often, and yet spoke less. We will glean from His many examples of instruction, leading, guiding, speaking, and healing, as well as experience asana with less directives and more of leading others, assisting others, into an experience without a lot of chatter. Trainees will here know the importance of living, acting, serving, and instructing inclusively, to all. This leads into various teaching styles. Standing postures are studied, discussed, practiced, and demonstrated in Module two. Students build on yoga foundation and alignment principles, benefits, and key systems that are working in this asana family, as well as props, modifications, assistance, and speaking to special populations. Class room time is devoted to the practice, cuing, and delivery of guiding others into pranayama, meditation, and asana techniques. Using the textbook Yoga Sequencing, we explore Asana Practice specifically toward special populations like obesity and move into other diseases and illness. Students learn how to assess individual limitations, whether permanent, such as a disease, or temporary, such as trauma or pregnancy. Students then demonstrate with trainers and co-students a yoga therapy session with the use of props, tools, and anything else that aids limitations. Here, trainees have the opportunity to not only demonstrate their knowledge and lead others into a well rounded practice in their own specific teaching style, but to also demonstrate correcting, assisting, and observing during practicum.

YogaFaith Ambassador Holly Neal leads you students through over 10 Hours of Anatomy Webinars. Through demonstrations, practice, and students’ training time, our energy bodies are explored. The study and discussion of Bandhas, Mudras, Chakras, Nadis, Kriyas, Muscular vs Organic lines of energy, and God as light, breath, energy, and Source are incorporated into asana practicum. Using training manual on kinesiology and Yoga Anatomy, students dive deeper into the study each asana and how they pertain to the the spine and movement. Planes, axis, directions, and positions of structures in postures are explored. Proper alignment and healthy movements as oppose to improper alignment and unhealthy movements in practice and everyday life are focused on. A study and discussion of the life of Christ and service to others as it correlates to an instructor or leader of any type. Discussion explores looking at Jesus as an ultimate teacher, healer, and instructor. How he related to all people with empathy, understanding, and kindness. Students discuss the Greatest Commandments and how to live a harmonious life with themselves and others. During this module we discuss and experience a non-violence diet and nutrition by exploring alternative eating patterns such as vegan, vegetarian, and the elements of Ayurveda diets. Nutrition, lifestyle, and Ayurveda methods, Doshas, and alternative holistic lifestyles are also studied and put into practice during this module. Teaching methods and styles are further explored, as well as speaking to special populations and yoga therapy in a group setting or one on one are experienced and practiced further. (Experienced meaning students practice a guided session with an (actual) specific limitation) Using the Yoga Sequencing textbook, students further study sequencing for special populations, including senior citizens, pre and post natal, emotional/mental health issues, children, and much more. Students explore diseases, preventions, and case studies for Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, Immune System Diseases, Arthritis, fibromyalgia and other common limitations. Students will learn about creating more advanced classes with the focus on sequences that make sense for all levels. Scripture study focuses on healing passages and what God has to say about the body, health, breath, movement, and diseases. The power of touch is discussed, explored, and demonstrated. Confidence building exercises are practiced and what the word of God tells us about confidence versus fear. Students must create, study, practice and demonstrate the combining of yoga traditions and spiritual concepts through a practice class. For example, students will design a class on how traditional yoga methods can be woven into what scripture says about worship with the whole body, meditation and chanting. Students are encouraged to create a class around a theme. For example, taking a limb or yama from the 8 limbs, and a theme such as “Surrender”, and creating a well rounded class around this theme. This will also involve a community group or offering a free volunteer class(es) to a local gym, studio, or fitness center. Added classes can count toward more elective and/or remaining hours.
